Research study cohort data

What is a Research Study Cohort?

A Research Study Cohort is a group of participants whose data has been included in the NGRL as a result of their participation in one of our partner research studies. Often this means that they are suspected of having or diagnosed with the same specific condition or group of conditions, but that is not always the case.

Where a participant is part of a Research Study Cohort they may have a slightly different data set, including long read sequencing data, different clinical data available.

Research Study Cohort data is only made available to a general research audience after the Research Study that originated the data has had an opportunity to exclusively access that data. After that time, it is subject to the same access permissions and requirements as all other data in the Research Environment.

If you, as a Research Environment researcher, publish a paper using data from a Research Study Cohort, we ask that you acknowledge the contribution of that Research Study. You can identify the Research Study by noting the folder in which the participants were selected from in LabKey:

  1. The "Main Programme" folder should have acknowledgment aimed to the 100,000 Genomes Project
  2. The "NHS - GMS" folder should have acknowledgment aimed to the Genomic Medicine Service
  3. The "Cohorts Folder" will be available if you have the appropriate access. The name of the sub-folder in the “Cohorts Folder” should be the Research Study that should be acknowledged
